HELLO, DIDDO!

WELCOME TO THE
HAPPIEST PLACE ON THE WEB.

Image of an Evil Clown

As the warning label beneath the header has already told you, this site is, indeed, under construction. I'm a complete N00B at web building and have a lot, I mean a LOT, of audio to get from tape to a digital format, remove as much tape hiss as I can from, clean up, EQ, edit, build cross fades, re-join and burn to an MP3 format, re-separate and then create jewel case artwork for. If I could get one disc a week done, I'd be happy, but I don't think that's going to happen. So this site is going to be constantly updated. As I post new items, I'll update the "What's New" section at the bottom of this page. If you find red type and graphics on a page that means that those particular sections haven't begun to be populated yet.

As it says in the header above, this is a place for creativity to be shared. As of this writing (Friday the 13th of February, 2009), I have precious little of the pre-work done for the content of this site. On the audio pages, the only files I have prepared to begin this project are two of the Bogus Pomp concerts. On the visual pages, I still have to get images of paintings and sculptures from Mike Thomsen and photography from Alejandra Pena. On the family pages I still have to get a slide scanner to digitize all of my grandmother's slides, of which there are a lot, and then organize them by family (if you have a slide scanner you don't use anymore, email me, I may buy it from you). So you can see why I have the warning signs.

The audio is what is going to take the most effort. Too many years ago, I ended up with the tapes of my best friend, the late Doug Knapp. On those tapes is a lot of really great stuff, both solo and with other people, most notably the band Quest, which could improvise like few other bands can. My original plan was to take all those tapes and make a giant set of CDs which I would then give to people who knew him as a gift and the more I did it, the bigger the project kept getting. Then affordable digital technology kept getting better and the files I had started with could sound better now that there was this plug in available, that filter available... so this is the third time I've started this particular project. But this time, I've learned from my last 2 mistakes and know how I'm going to do it in a manageable way. During that time I've been doing minor art for Bogus Pomp and becoming better acquainted with that band's leader, Jerry Outlaw, so I've gathered some of their recordings and realized that I needed to make that stuff available here as well, since I'm going to remaster it all for my own personal use and amusement anyway. It's just a few more steps to get it prepared to be available for download, so why not? They've got a huge following, people would like to hear that music.

If you have stumbled upon this page while doing some random surfing and are interested in posting your own music or art here, go to the appropriate subsection and click on the YOUR AUDIO or YOUR VISUAL button to begin a dialog with me about getting your projects uploaded. My interest is to expand this site into a great big resource for sharing creativity. I'm starting little, using stuff from my friends and myself to begin with, but I want more, more, MORE! If you're like me and have a big creative streak but aren't interested in pursuing a lucrative contract, you do this for fun and for fun alone, you should contact me. What's the point in doing something creative if you're then just going to sit on it and no one else will hear it or see it? Email me and we'll get your stuff on here as long as it's creative. That part is very important. If you're just rehashing the same old top 40 stuff, I'm not interested.

Navigate to the subsection of your desire below to begin downloading and, hopefully, adding your own creativity to this site.

SO MATT, WHAT'S NEW?

Glad you asked. On March 24th, 2009, another Bogus Pomp performance was added to our site. This recording finds the gents doing a live radio broadcast on WMNF radio in Tampa, Florida. After you download, be sure to check out my hints on burning the discs to get the maximum amount of pleasure on the main page of the music section. Otherwise...
